Tommie Sanders

Mr. Tommie Lee Sanders passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities. Age 75 years. He was born October 10, 1934 in Holt, Alabama to Willie and Lillie (Royster) Sanders.
Tommie Lee graduated from Saginaw High School in 1953 and was employed by General Motors for 40 years before retiring and was committed to the union as a member of local 668. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Episcopal Church where he was active as a usher. He was member of the Alabama Reunion club, A. Phillip Randolph Association and an avid supporter of many charities. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and sports.
He leaves to cherish his memory five daughters and three sons, Larrie (Valerie) Packard, Saginaw, MI, Eddie (Maria) Connerly, Baltimore, MD, Cheryl James, Linda (Grady) Holmes, Darnell (Mary Lou) Sanders, Saginaw, MI, Dellmarie Davis, Bay City, MI, Renay (Richie) Harmon, St. Louis, MO, Dawn (Anthony) Sanders-Scott, Chicago, IL; five step-children, Julie LaGrone, Ft. Worth, TX, Linda Johnson, Lonnie (Clare) McCaleb, Leonna Abney, Wanda (William) Stewart, all of Grand Rapids, MI; thirty-four grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; one brother, Joe (Karen) Sanders; mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Margaret Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Willie Harris, Audrey Redeemer, Victor Johnson, Sherman and Delores Cooper. The family would like to express a special thanks to friends, co-workers and loved ones for your prayers and support. May God bless you all.
He was preceded in death by wife, Donna M. Sanders; parents, Willie and Lillie Sanders, three sons, Darwyn, Darrell and Drew Sanders; one brother, Willie (Julia) Sanders, grandson, Anthony McCaleb.
