Tommy King "Po Boy"

Mr. Tommy King "Po Boy" departed this life on, Friday, October 7, 2022, at his residence in Detroit, Michigan, with family at his side. Age 73 years. Tommy was born March 25, 1949, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Oliver King and Nicular Ray. 


Po Boy moved to Saginaw, Michigan in the early 70’s where he met and married his former wife, Loretta King. To their union, a daughter, Tanga King, was born. He retired from General Motors in 1995, after 25 years of service. He enjoyed watching westerns, playing poker, spending time with his family and friends, going to the casino, dancing, and drinking a nice cold beer.


Tommy leaves to cherish his memory his former wife and special friend, Loretta King; one daughter, Tanga King, Detroit, Michigan; seven stepchildren, Kunitha (Dedrick) Peterson, Birmingham, Alabama, Raymond (Jamie) Hicks, Saginaw, Michigan, Anthony (Denise) Hicks, Bay City, Michigan, Aringtor (Nina) Hicks, Canton, Michigan, Derrick Hicks, Saginaw, Michigan, Wesley Hicks, Bay City, Michigan, and Brigetta Gibbs, Charleston, South Carolina; two grandchildren, DeQuarius Evans, and Octaevia Weathers, Detroit, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Christian Willis, Saginaw, Michigan, Tamiya Sample and Serenity Evans, Detroit, Michigan; three brothers, Harry Johnson, Benton, Harbor, Michigan, Anthony (Denise) Johnson, and Jameel (Mary) Jabbar, Salisbury, Maryland; one aunt, Louise Barber, Benton Harbor, Michigan; one cousin, Kathryn Thompson, Benton Harbor, Michigan; one brother-in-law, Alexander Alexander, Saginaw, Michigan; a host of relatives and special friends.


Tommy was preceded in death by his biological mother, Nicular Ray; father and mother, Oliver and Emmie Nora King who helped to raise him; brothers, Jerome Looney, Nathaniel Johnson, and Alvin Dyson.


The family would like to express special thanks to Raymond Hicks for his patience, care, and time spent with my dad.
