Tondalaya Caston (Detroit-Lansing)

Ms. Tondalaya Henry-Caston passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Omni Continuing Care in Detroit, Michigan. Age 53 years. She was born December 31, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois. The daughter of Francine Henry and Milton Thomas.

Tondalaya resided in Lansing, Michigan at the time of her death, but was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Strong Temple Baptist Church (Family church) in Markham, Illinois. She graduated from Simeon High School in Chicago, Illinois and furthered her education at tech school in a CNA Program. Throughout her years of employment, she worked at various nursing skill facilities helping to provide love and care to people in need. Her last employer was Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan as a patient care technician.

Tondalaya’s hobbies were reading, watching her favorite tv shows (Wheel of Fortune and Law & Order Special Victims), cooking great meals for family, and spending time with her family and grandchildren listening to her favorite music by Gerald Levert.

She leaves to cherish her memory children, Jimmy Henry, Nyeesha Brown, Jasmine Ward, and Narrion (Alisha) Caston all of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Dominique, Tyrell, Jimmy, Nadia, Mya, Tariah, Harmony, Ny’Yanna, Sanyah, Dei’Anna, Joseph, Xyain, Alexionna, and Jerika all of Lansing, Michigan; mother, Francine Henry; father, Milton Thomas; siblings, Leah Henry, Sherlynn Mickey, Kimberly Maxey, Kevin Henry, and Eugene Thomas; 7 nieces; 3 nephews; aunts, Evelyn Thomas and Iris Henry; uncles, Robert Thomas and Walter Thomas; special cousins, Leslie, Chery, Anthony, Denise, and many great cousins survive her; sister-in-law, LaTeea Henry; brother-in-law, Brian Maxey; best friend, Deneen (Courtney) Jones.

Tondalaya was preceded in death by brothers, Milton Thomas, Jr. and Timothy Thomas; grandparents, Wilfred & Florence Henry and William Sr., & Gloria Thomas; and niece, Tondalaya Henry.
