Tyrone Horton (Lansing)

Mr. Tyrone Horton moved to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his residence in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 71 years old. He was born Sunday, February 1, 1953, in Greensboro, Alabama, the son of Mary Horton and Deuce Somerville. He was raised by his grandparents, James and Rosena Horton. His aunts and uncles were like sisters and brothers to him. 

He received his education at Alabama Institute For The Deaf And Blind in Talladega, Alabama. He also attended the Michigan School For The Blind. 

In 1969, he moved from Alabama to Lansing, Michigan and took up a trade to become a tailor and also worked at MET as a janitor. His last job before his death was at Peckham Inc. 

He received Christ at an early age. He was an average softball player and loved to travel. Most of all he loved people. You will always see him with a smile on his face and his hand out for a shake.

Tyrone leaves to mourn his siblings, Jimmy, Mary, Dorothy, Daisy, Elizabeth, Robert, Jonathan and Rebecca; aunts, Rebecca Davis, Josephine Bishop, Jannie (Emory) Cameron, Sarah (Eddie) Dedrick; uncle, William Horton; many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends including many close friends who are deaf. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, along with his brother, Arthur Horton.
