Valerie West (Lansing)

Ms. Valerie Kay West passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Sparrow Health Systems – Sparrow Campus in Lansing, Michigan. Age 66 years. The daughter of Robert West and Susan Gill, she was born December 31, 1953 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.

Valerie was a life long resident of Lansing, Michigan, where she was educated in the Lansing School District. Valerie graduated from Lansing Sexton High School (You should of been a Big Red!!). She was employed by the State of Michigan and retired after 25 years of service. Valerie enjoyed traveling especially to Idlewild, Michigan to her family cottage. She loved her family and her dogs.

She leaves to cherish her memory her niece, Carletta Blue; nephew, Lewis Avery West, II; 5 aunts; 4 uncles; 15 cousins; 3 great-nieces; 2 great-nephews; other relatives and friends including special friends, Yvette Farrow, Linda Sturdivant-Rogers and Linda Boyd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Alan B. Gill; grandparents, Rankin Lewis and Valeriea Lewis; brother, Lewis Avery West, Sr. and niece, Tameka Jackson.
