Mr. Vandy Lane Jr. passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Vibra Hospital in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Age 71 years. He was born June 19, 1941 in Swainsboro, Georgia to Vandy and Inell Lane Parker.
Vandy resided in Saginaw, Michigan most of his life. He attended Saginaw High School and then joined the United States Armed Forces. After an honorable discharge, he was employed at General Motors. Vandy joined Jewel M. Arthur in holy matrimony. She survives him. He was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church under the leadership of Pastor Judith Boli. Vandy enjoyed singing and listening to CDs. He was a member of the recording group The Ring Leaders. Vandy loved to laugh and his presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to celebrate his homegoing, his wife, Jewel M. Lane; six daughters, April (Terry) Bracey, Felicia Nash, Jacquise Gamble, Marsha Hawkins, Vanessa (LeeRoy) Gamble Burton, LeKoya Lane; three sons, Vandy (Kathy) Lane III, Edmond (Mitzi) Gamble, Eddie (Ann) Gamble; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; three sisters, Sarah N. (Henderson) Jones, Dolores Boose, Carrie B. Polk; one sister-in-law, Mildred McElroy; many other relatives and friends.
Vandy was preceded in death by his parents, Vandy and Inell Lane, one daughter, Sandy Gamble, one brother, Hurley McElroy.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the nurses at Davida Dialysis, the staff of Covenant Healthcare- Harrison ICU, the staff at Vibra Hospital in Lincoln Park, Michigan and the Bethel AME Church Prayer Warriors.
