Velma R. Henix

May 22, 1954 — April 6, 2021

Mrs. Velma Rene Henix was born May 22, 1954 in Bay Spring, Mississippi to Jessie Mae Duckworth. God called her name to be with Him on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the age of 66 years.

Velma was a graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 1972.” She worked at JCPenny as a cashier for nineteen years, from 1977-1996. She left JCPenney to work for Meijer, and she was employed there for 21 years until she retired.

Velma loved to visit different churches in the city of Saginaw. She enjoyed spending quality time with her husband, even if it was just walking, doing sit ups and exercising. A voracious reader, she loved a good book. She loved watching tv and she was an excellent cook. Her relationship with her mother was very special and they talked on the phone every day. Velma will surely be missed.

Velma was preceded in death by Velma Eugene Moncrief.

She leaves precious memories with her husband, Robert Henix; children, Lawanda McDaniel and Lemuel Ligon, both of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Sparkle, Vanessa, Adasia, Jordan, all of Saginaw, Michigan; mother, Jessie Mae Duckworth; sisters, Erica, Monica and Bonita Williams, Tammie and Carolyn Simon; brothers, Archie and Alfred Moncrief, Antonio Williams; many nieces and nephews, including special nieces Jessica Moncrief and Omisha Braggs and special nephews Alfred, Jesse and Perris; aunts and uncles, Jessie Bee Cousin, LeRoy Moncrief, George Moncrief, Jolene Moncrief, Eve Ray Moncrief, Yonnie Moncrief, all of Saginaw, Michigan; father-in-law, Alvin Henix, Sr., Saginaw, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Willie Lee Battle, Doris Henix, both of Saginaw, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Alvin Henix Jr., Saginaw, Michigan, Terry Henix, Bay City, Michigan, Melvin Henix, Texas; many other relatives and friends including best friend, Shirley Jones.
