An awesome woman of strength, courage and beauty, Vera Lynette Monroe made her triumphant entry into Heaven on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper after a sudden illness. Vera was an awesome daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. The oldest daughter of 11 children, she was born September 18, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan to Pastor Theodore and Mother Neva Monroe. Vera was the big sister known as lil Neva.
Vera attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a graduate of Saginaw High School class of 1976. Her parents instilled in her the importance of living for God. She was a member of Good Shepard Church of God In Christ under the leadership of her father, Pastor Theodore Monroe. Vera was a part of the sewing circle and the choir where she often led the song, Somethings got a hold of me. She was very active in several areas of the ministry. As a young girl, she enjoyed braiding hair, fashion and sewing. She was always very helpful to her mother in taking care of her brothers and sisters. Vera rededicated her life to Christ in 1994 at Victorious Believers Ministries under the leadership of the late Bishop Marvin C. Pryor where she served for many years. She was saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. Vera loved the Lord with all her heart. She made sure she gave you an encouraging word and wasnt afraid to tell you what a blessing it was to know Jesus. She would remind her children, I am saved. Vera graduated from Delta College in 2008 with an Associate Degree in Liberal Studies. She received other certificates for child development, medical billing and business administration. Vera was currently attending school to complete her Bachelor degree.
Vera was employed with Saginaw ISD Headstart for over 15 years as a teacher. She cared for many children from the ages of 3-5 years and they affectionately called her Ms. Vera. Vera loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to shop, always browsing the stores for bargains and online shopping. She was a praying woman who often prayed for her children during the night and with her sisters. Vera loved family gatherings, often cooking on holidays to entertain the family. She could pin tacos, was a master at making dressing and was famous for her banana pudding and pasta salad. She enjoyed watching her favorite evangelist, Juanita Bynum, Bishop TD Jakes and Creflo Dollar. Vera loved music and had recently managed to use her IPhone where she could listen to her gospel music and the word of God. She was a clean lady, loved nice things and always made sure her carpet had nice clean lines in it. Vera was gifted to arch eyebrows like no other. Although quiet in spirit, Vera was funny, caring and was always a giver who was always willing to lend a helping hand to her family and very close friends.
