Vera Lee Jackson

September 11, 1933 — May 21, 2016

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mrs. Vera Lenore Jackson Lady, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her residence at the age of 82 years. Vera was born to Eddie Thomas, Sr. and Lillie Thomas on September 11, 1933 in Sicily Island, Louisiana.
Mrs. Jackson was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and was a faithful member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church under leadership of Pastor Willie Hill, Jr. until she became ill. She then united with Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul E. Broaddus. Vera Jackson was employed by the Holiday Inn and Romanow Cleaning Service. She enjoyed singing, dancing and playing bingo. Vera always had a smile on her face, and she loved joking around. She will be missed by friends and family who loved her dearly.
Vera leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph Jackson, Jr.; four daughters and four sons, Calvin Thomas, Phyllis Smith, Michael Jackson, Bernard Jackson, Antinella (Timothy) Surles, Joseph (Demetria) Jackson, III and Venolian Jackson, all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Emma (David) Thompson of Orange, Texas; eighteen grandchildren, Sergio (Shannon) Thomas of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Felecia Thomas, Algee (Trudy) Smith, Michelle Bates, AnQuonn Smith, Ervin Smith, Zenolian Jackson, Monique Latimore, Dominque Jackson, Tiera Johnson, Joseph Jackson, IV, Jotayvia Jackson, Keontae Jackson, Jaquonn Jackson and Devon Williams, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Peter, Elizabeth and David Thompson of Orange, Texas; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jatreen Jackson, Gloria Howard; three brothers-in-law, Monroe, Melvin and Marvin Jackson, all of Jena Louisiana; her adopted daughters, Mary Ball, Cassandra Morgan and Michelle McKinley.
Vera was preceded in death by one daughter, Constance Jackson; grandson, Jerail Jackson; parents, Lillie E. Thomas and Eddie Thomas, Sr.; one sister, Edna B. Williams; two brothers, Larnell Thomas and Eddie Thomas, Jr.; her sister, Mary Earl Ellis, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016.
