Vera Louise Jones

Ms. Vera Louise Jones passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 71 years. She was born July 2, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee to Tommie Wilburn and Ulysses Mitchell.

Ms. Jones loved to laugh, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a hard worker. A strong, loving and caring mother, Ms. Jones made sure to instill these same traits into her sons. She loved to dance, and her children would dance with her when she played loud music, usually every Saturday, before she began cleaning… the smell of Pine-Sol in the air.

She provided her children with opportunities to travel, live in various states while growing up, and experience diverse cultures. She was a loving mother at all times, but was the disciplinarian when called for, ensuring that they saw both sides of the coin. Ms. Jones never failed to share with others how proud she was that her little boys grew into great men and are great fathers. Her legacy includes many memorable and fun times of family members gathering to play cards, the children playing tag and having water fights, and everyone eating tacos after working up an appetite. These memories will be treasured by her children who love her dearly. She will be missed.

Ms. Vera Louise Jones leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Gregory Van Jones, Anthony J. Garth, and Eugene Jones; grandchildren, Jasmine S. Garth, Holland, Michigan, and Octavia Jones, Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Ruby Booker; brothers, Randy, Bobby, and Steven Mitchell; nieces, Sharmia McCants, Stephanie Booker, and Rosaline Butterfield; nephew, Steve Booker; special friend, Michael Ranger, Saginaw, Michigan.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie Wilburn, and Ulysses Mitchell; brother, Michael Mitchell; and sister, Linda Moore.
