Veris Antionette Thompson

Ms. Veris Antionette Thompson “Shuga” passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 27 years. She was born December 3, 1989 in Saginaw, Michigan to Obed Aubry Thompson, Sr. and Gwendolyn Louise Wicker.

Veris attended Saginaw Public Schools graduating from Saginaw ETC School. She was a member of Christ Image Community Church under the leadership of Pastor Eugene and Melissa Burton. Shuga loved dancing, singing, looking pretty, rapping, and was always trying to cook (LOL). She was always smiling and loud. You knew when she was talking. Shuga was funny and liked to joke with you. She especially loved spending time with her children and other children, too, having movie nights with them. Shuga will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

She leaves to cherish loving memories her daughter Dedranae Antionette Loui Humphry: three sons, Javareon Jontrell Green, MyKing Cotton, and Eddie Demond Bowens, Jr.; father, Obed Aubry Thompson, Sr.; stepmother, Toni Carol Thompson; seven sisters, Tiffaney Lawrence, Gwendolyn Wicker, Arica Baley, Yondina Wicker, Gladys Wicker, Tara Thompson, and Taqua Davis; six brothers, Kevin Wicker, Obed Thompson, Jr., Omar Love, Orieano Thompson, Shihe Vassar, and Johnathan Townsend; fifteen nieces; 18 nephews; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; special cousins, Precious, Mesha, TanTan; two sisters-in-law, Exandrea Thompson, Kanasha Wicker, and a very close sister, Ciara Covington; one brother-in-law, Wardale Lawrence, many other relatives and friends; special friends, Tempest Lawrence and Burchell Longmire.

Veris was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn Wicker; grandparents, Alfred and Velma Barney, Jack and Veris Thompson.

The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Eugene and Melissa Burton and the Christ Image Community Church family, the Thompson family, the Lawrence family, the Texas family, Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel, and extra special thanks to Andrick Pruitt.
