Versie Lee Williams

Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend Versie Lee Williams went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2014 at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Age 75 years. She was born August 19, 1938 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Philander Williams and Odessa Griffin-Williams.
Versie was a Christian woman. She attended Saginaw High School and starting working at an early age in the hotel industry. Versie later began employment with Saginaw Manufacturing/Delphi Chassis. She retired after 27 years of service. Affectionately known as Lil Bit to her loved ones, she loved and cared for many and always provided a place to lay your head. Her home was open to anyone in need. Versie enjoyed many hobbies such as traveling to the casinos, playing cards, puzzles and shopping. She always nurtured her children, grandchildren and family. Her presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory two sons, Derek (Sabrina) Williams of Pontiac, Michigan and Steven Williams of Saginaw, Michigan; one stepson, Victor Baker; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Philander Williams Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan; four sisters, Ernestine (James) Bankston, Floramae (Chester) Bishop both of California, Mary (Calvin) Williams of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Jeanette Williams of Saginaw, Michigan; many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Versie was preceded in death by her parents, Philander Williams and Odessa Griffin-Williams; one son, Norman Williams; three grandchildren, Trishille Williams, Keyiia Williams and Shayla Mims; four sisters, Martha, Eugina, Sherry and Lois; two brothers, Charlie Henry and Cleophus Williams; a very special friend, Louis Thomas.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered kind words, prayers and condolences.
