Mrs. Vickie Miske, age 73 years old, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. Growing up Vickie was the oldest girl of seven children born in Union City, Tennessee. Her family moved to the Lansing-Holt Michigan area when she was a young child.
Vicki was a straight A student who loved learning about history and the world; in-fact she had dreams of traveling to England and Scotland to explore the castles and countryside she fondly read about in her books of lore. She had a deep love of British culture and was frequently drawn to the goings on across the pond and she regularly watched episodes of Downton Abbey. In addition, her schooling led her to become an avid reader and she spent some nights reading the latest rock and roll biographies or memoirs by the classic artists of old. Her love of music moved through her, and she found a peaceful yet energetic rhythm to get her through her days. Her music choices were of many genres, including jazz, blues, and of course Motown, but rock and roll is where her heart was loyal. Her ultimate choice of listening was Jackson Browne, and she recently had the greatest opportunity to see him play for two days. It was one of her greatest adventures.
In her pastimes Vicki also had a love for playing bingo with her close friends and trying her luck on the slots; that was another fun adventure she would always be willing to take. And later she enjoyed celebrating with a few of her high school friends for their monthly restaurant date.
She also loved seeing her two grandchildren that she found the greatest joy in and traveled many times to Florida to celebrate their birthdays. Since they were twins, she was able to get twice the enjoyment and fun attending their favorite amusement park or restaurant and recently their high school graduation.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mark of forty-nine years and her parents Thomas John and Betty Louise Wall.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Miske (Dull); grandchildren Caleb and Gracelynn Dull; her siblings—which she stayed in contact with every week and had a close relationship with them all—Pamela Gradney, Barry (Mary) Wall, Betty Jane (Keith) Bonney, Tom (Velvet) Wall, David Wall and Robert Wall; and sister-in-law Pamela Cantin; several nieces and nephews and extended family still in Tennessee.
Her heart at its core was giving and loving and she would be the first to think of giving to someone at her favorite holiday, Christmas, even if it was a beloved homemade bag of Chex mix. This was also true at the end of her journey as she delegated the choice of being an organ donor to The Gift of Life Foundation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help support Harmony & Healing and MusiCares.
