The Lord sealed the lips of His Child, Virgil Andre “Mousey” Sangster, to come home and rest at the age of 54 years on the morning of Tuesday, May 14, 2019.
Mousey was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Ollie Sangster and Joan Crawford on October 10, 1964. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 1982.” All of his classmates and friends saw that he was big in stature but more importantly knew he had a heart of gold.
Upon graduating from high school, Mousey attended Virginia State University and later transferred to Knoxville College on a football scholarship. His love for children and sports brought him back to his hometown of Saginaw, where he became a teacher in the Saginaw Public School District. He coached various sports and was a mentor to several children.
Mousey was a very loyal friend and caring person who would “give the shirt off of his back” to anyone in need. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Connie Matthews-Sangster for 19½ years and a tremendous father to his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
He leaves precious memories with his loving wife, Connie Matthews-Sangster; daughter, Amari Sangster, Saginaw, Michigan; sons, Andre (Tynea) Johnson, Easley, South Carolina, Dwight Hargrove, Jr., Saginaw, Michigan, Onious Sr. (Dwaynna) Hargrove, Warren, Michigan; parents, Ollie Sangster and Joan Crawford, Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Terrell Shaw, Jr., Raidyn Hargrove, Onious Hargrove II, Saginaw, Michigan, Taeya Hargrove, Lewisville, Texas, De’Ashalynn Carpenter, Easley, South Carolina; godchildren, Tremaine Mounger, Jr., Paradise Bowes, Saginaw, Michigan; brother, Derek (Paulette) Sangster, Manassas, Virginia; sisters, Tracy (Carmen) Boswell, Dumfries, Virginia, Louise Sangster, Austin, Texas; father and mother-in-law, Onious Jr. (Ada) Matthews, Saginaw, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Meshell (Benjamin Jr.) Matthews-Mathis, Saginaw, Michigan, Sharon (Marvell Sr.) Eggleston, Detroit, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Anthony (Angela) Matthews, Watertown, New York, Melvin Morris, Saginaw, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends, including special friends Ivan E.
