Virginia Winchester

August 20, 1943 — September 15, 2022

Born Lois Virginia Rae Land on August 20, 1943, in Tarry, AK to McKinley Land, Sr. and Luecinda Curry Land, the only girl of six children our beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt gained her heavenly wings on September 15, 2022, at home surrounded by her husband and children.

Virginia came to Saginaw, MI in 1964 where she worked as a barmaid and babysitter until 1969 securing employment with General Motors Central Foundry Nodular Iron and later transferring to and retiring from the Grey Iron in 1995. She was united in holy matrimony with Joseph Winchester, Jr. on June 5, 1972.

Virginia loved her family and hosting holiday gatherings at her home. She also enjoyed league bowling starting with her local UAW in 1972. However, let it be remembered her 1st love was GOD her father! Virginia was a strong woman of faith & wisdom, a prayer warrior and worshipper! She lived for God and His word. Virginia rededicated her life to the Lord in 1982. Once she put her hand to the plow she never looked back. She was not shy about sharing God's word, winning souls to Christ, and asking if you had a relationship with the Lord. She was a long-time member of Victorious Believers Ministries, Bishop Marvin C Pryor, currently under the leadership of Pastor Christopher V. Pryor where she served God as a missionary, Sunday school teacher, and mentor, on the bereavement committee, prayer team, and prison ministry. She also volunteered with TCT channel 49 for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Joseph Winchester, Jr., her children Kenneth (Veleria) Land and Jacqueline Land; step-children, Stephen Winchester and Karen (Kennon) Murphy; grandchildren, Quinnice Russell, Gary Land, Carol Land, Kenneth Land, Jr., LaTroya Haynes, Erycka McKinney, Delbert Smith, Ashton Powell, Shuttney Winchester, Stevon Winchester, Shamya Winchester; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brothers James (Christine) Land, Sr., and Dale Land; sister-in-law Mildred Land; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a dear uncle Henry Land, Jr., close niece and cousin Barbara Jones and Phyllis Alexander and special friends Gladys Fields, Ella Carter,  Margaret Brodus, and Freddie Jackson.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents McKinley Land, Sr., and Luecinda Curry Land; daughter Lois Land (infant); brothers Melvin Charles (M.C.) Land, McKinley Land, Jr. and Willie Land; sister-in-law Pearline Land; aunt Marie Moten; granddaughter Diamond Winchester, grandsons Joseph Winchester III, Stephen Winchester, and Izaiah Land; great-grandson Emareyon Cummings; niece Mary Ann Land; nephews Willie Hogan, Jr., Roy Land, Terry Land and Dallas (B.B.)
