Walter M. Saxton, Jr. (Clare & Lansing)

Mr. Walter Milton Saxton, Jr. passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Vista Springs Assisted Living in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 92 years. He was born the son of Walter M. Saxton, Sr. and Marjorie H. Saxton in Lansing, Michigan on December 12, 1929.

Walter enlisted in the United States Navy on April 14, 1947 and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1950. Upon returning to Lansing, he became employed at General Motors Corporation for 38½ years. Walter retired on March 1, 1988. He moved to Bailey Lake Club, a hunting and fishing association in 1988. Walter was also a Moose member of Lodge 2276 in Zephyrhills, Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and helping others. Walter married Deloris Suggate in 1996. They bought a home in Zephyrhills, Florida where they both enjoyed being snowbirds until Deloris’ passing in 2018.

He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Russell A. Saxton, David P. Saxton, Walter M. (Jennifer) Saxton, III; stepsons, Paul Suggate and Dan Suggate; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris A. Saxton; daughter, Marjorie J. Saxton; parents, Walter M. Saxton, Sr. and Marjorie H. Saxton; and sister, Francis Snider-Sickel. Additionally, his daughter-in-law, Linda Saxton, wife of Russell passed away 4 days after him.
