Wanda Jean Ramsey

Mrs. Wanda Jean Ramsey was called home to be with God on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare Harrison ICU following a lengthy illness. Age 57 years. She was born October 16, 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Jimmy Donald and Daisy Donald.

Wanda was a graduate of Carrollton High School, “Class of 1982.” Wanda married Robert Ramsey on February 19, 1983 in Saginaw, Michigan, and from their union, four children were born. Wanda received an Associate in Science degree in Nursing from Delta College. She was employed at Zehnder’s Restaurant for many years while attending Delta to complete her RN degree. Upon becoming a licensed Registered Nurse, Wanda worked at several medical facilities: Covenant Hospital, Hurley Medical Center, Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital and other private facilities.

Wanda’s hobbies included reading, traveling, sports, cooking, watching crime tv shows, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed medical science, taking care of people, and being a listening ear for those who needed assistance. She walked in purpose and fulfilled her calling. Job WELL-DONE!

She leaves beautiful memories with her loving husband of 38 years, Robert Ramsey, Sr.; nine children, Casandra Luke, Stephanie Ramsey, Nicole Beemon, Dorothy (Brian) Lukens, Victoria Ramsey, Robert Ramsey, Marcus (Shafeka) Ramsey, Demetrius Beemon, Nathaniel Ramsey; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her mother, Daisy (Benjamin) Donald-Furlough; sisters, Dureen Donald, Nina (Gerald) Staffney, Tonya (James) Jones, Sandra (Scott) Collier, Tiffany Collier, Nanette Steele, Makahla Donald; brothers, Sandy Donald, Tyrone Dudley; son-in-law, Dennis Holden; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Ramsey, Sr.; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Olga Gomez, Lydia Soliz, Glenda Riley-Oliver, Eric and Michelle Smith, Kenny Lytle and Larry Williams.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Donald; stepmothers, Hattie Bell, Mary Donald; mother-in-law, Dorothy Ware; grandson, Dennis Holden “DJ”; brother, Billie Lytle; grandparents, Venus and Eddie Mae Weston; great-grandmothers, Emma Jakes, Josephine Harper; son-in-law, Anthony Luke; brothers-in-law, Fred, Willie and Walter Moore.
