Mr. Wardell Flourry, Sr. transitioned from this life to Heaven, Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his residence in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 97 years. He was born November 11, 1924, in Little Rock, Arkansas to his parents William and Vira Flourry.
Wardell grew up in Woodson, Arkansas, where his family stayed for many years, and later moved to Lansing, Michigan , where in 1942, Wardell studied to become an apprentice and became one of the first young black electricians to work for Motor Wheel Corp.
Wardell Flourry, Sr. met the love of his life, Juanita Scipio in 1945. They were married August 26, 1947 and were married for 69 years. Wardell, Sr. served as a member of Friendship Baptist church in Lansing, under the leadership of Rev. E. Gladstone Scott and Rev. Clyde Carnagie, and retired from Motor Wheel Corp. in 1986.
Wardell leaves to cherish his memory, to his loving son, Beauford (Marcel) Flourry; six grandchildren, Ardella Gillis of Detroit, Dierdra Dee Flourry-Rembert of Grand Rapids, Anthony J. Carson of Muskegon, Deon (Angila) Jenkins, DeShara Flourry-Alvarado, Lessie Morrison Flourry, all of Lansing, one brother Billy Flourry of Flint, nephew Gregory (Mary) Amunga of Grand Rapids, and special niece Nabendae Amunga. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Juanita Flourry, son Wardell Flourry Jr, and daughter Carletta Carson
