Mr. Wardell Dewan Hayes “Punchie” went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Age 45 years. Wardell was born March 16, 1977, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Wardell Laury and Gracie Hayes-Turner.
Wardell attended Saginaw High School and later married Evette Woods-Hayes. He enjoyed driving, modifying his vehicles, and listening to music inside his favorite Chevy Tahoe, Rasputia. Wardell was a very independent person. He drove his vehicles with a stick with no handicap accessibility. He also loved video games, watching movies, SCI-FI and Martial Arts.
Wardell was a spiritual person; his favorite scripture was John 3:16 “For God so loved the world,” He would often remind us, that 3:16 was also his birthdate. Wardell often discussed the Bible with everyone who visited him. They had to listen to him talk about the Bible during their visit.
He leaves to cherish his memories, sons, Davontrel Coleman, Wardell Hayes Jr., and Jordell Hayes; daughter, Paige Hayes; mother and stepfather, Gracie (Charles) Turner; grandmother, Rodell Craft; brothers, Calvin Hayes, Quincy (Brandi) Hayes, Takiree Laury, and Louis (Amy) Hayes; sisters, Denise (Raymond) Tyson, and Neffertiti Laury; stepsisters; Dyquesha Fuller, and Lashawka Miller; stepbrothers; Travis and Henry Conner, and Charles Miller; godparents; Carol and James Woolfolk, and Joyce Johnson; special cousins, Demarkus Montrel, and Keith Hayes; many other relatives and friends including special friends, James Woolfolk, Jr., Rayshon Williams, and Dewayne Luke.
Wardell was preceded in death by his grandparents, Simuel Craft, Jimmie Mae (Nathan) Laury, and Vester Lee Hayes; godparents, William, (Mary) Byrd; and niece, Amari (Bubbles) Tyson.
