Warren Allen Leonard

August 21, 1958 — April 13, 2024

Warren Allen Leonard, a man of gentle spirit, kind heart, and infectious humor, completed this chapter of life peacefully in Salt Lake, Utah, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 21, 1958, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Delores Leonard and Leroy (Skeet) Woods. Warren's journey began with a foundation of love that would characterize his life. Growing up in Saginaw, Warren was surrounded by a loving family where he demonstrated his penchant for bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His early years were filled with the warmth of family and the guiding presence of his mother and father, Delores Leonard and Leroy Woods, and grandparents, Christopher (Ludy) Ford and Elizabeth (Wilean) Robert Woods. Warren's path eventually led him to Utah, where he continued his education and laid down roots that would flourish over the years.

Throughout his life, he sought out knowledge through academia. With drive and determination, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in History from Salt Lake City Community College. "It isn't over till it's over" was one of his many catchphrases, emphasizing that despite life's journey and hardships, education and knowledge were of the utmost importance.

Warren's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact of a warm smile. He navigated life's challenges with grace and always found reasons to laugh. Those who knew him will remember the sound of his laughter and his infectious smile. Despite rarely winning, Warren was a loyal fan and loved the Detroit Lions, music by Earth, Wind, and Fire, sweets such as peach cobbler, and his younger brother Todd's German chocolate cake. As we remember Warren, we celebrate a chapter in a life well-lived and a journey marked by kindness. His memory will be a guiding light for his sons, a source of strength for his sisters, and an enduring presence in the hearts of his nieces and granddaughters.

Warren's legacy will be continued through his three sons: Anthony (Jayda), Christopher Woods, and Spencer Pettit. His life was further enriched by the joys of his six granddaughters, Maddisyn, Brooklyn, Londyn, Layla, Alexis Woods, and Shivonne Pettit, who filled his days with laughter and love. The kindness and fond memories Warren shared will live on with his four sisters and brother: Stephanie (Gregory) Bradley-Dale, Monique Leonard, Sandy Miller, Sister-in-love Merria Cenie Woods, and Gregory Akers.

Warren also leaves to cherish his memories his Uncle Robert Moe (Armell) Woods and Aunt Barbara Jean McClendon, a partner through life, Cyrstal Pettit, cousin/brother Michael Haper, the best friend of many years, Willie Bill Sanders, and many families and friends.

Warren's journey continues as he is reunited and in life's next chapter with his parents, grandparents, and his cherished siblings Tamara Wicker-Duncan, Anthony Miller, Todd L. Woods, Uncle Nate Woods, and nephew Justin D. Woods.
