Wavonne Marie Halbert "Wavy Baby"

Ms. Wavonne Marie Halbert “Wavy Baby” passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital. Age 64 years. She was born on June 8, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan to Oscar Blackmon and Leola Katherine Johnson.

Ms. Halbert was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1971. Her employment included Ern’s Seafood, Luigi’s Pizza and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Wavonne enjoyed playing cards, bingo, playing Pac-Man, and listening to “oldies but goodies.” Her favorite songs were “Step in the Name of Love” by R-Kelly and “Happy” by Pharrell. Most of all, Wavonne enjoyed cooking for her family; especially preparing tacos. She always looked forward to “family night” with her children and grandchildren. Wavy Baby will truly be missed by family and friends who loved her dearly.

She leaves to cherish loving memories three daughters, Aretha Blackmon, Gloria Phillips and Shavonne Harris, all of Saginaw, Michigan; eight grandchildren, William and Alexandria Beverly, Edward Beamon “NAS”, Shar’Nae Perry, Alizee’ Dyson, Ka’tera Kariem, An’yah and Ta’raji Deberry, all of Saginaw, Michigan; four great-grandchildren, Antayvion Clayton, E’Meari Ducree, Delano Agee and Kendall Works; her father, Oscar Blackmon; boyfriend, boyfriend, James Bonner; one sister, Linda Harris; four brothers, Oscar Deparas, Brandon (Jessica) Blackmon, Ricky (Callandra) Blackmon, Mr. & Mrs. David Blackmon; four nieces, Vontwella Beverly, Sequila Young, Lashawn (Micheal) Winters, Kimberly (James) Clark and Ebony (Ben) Kendall; seven nephews, Depree Blackmon, Emerson and Anthony Beverly, Andre (Rolandia )Harris, Christopher (Valerie) Finely, Chancellor Blackmon and Terrance Young; aunts, Minnie Garette, Yvonne Gray, Roberta Akins, Louise James, Shirley Mann, Brenda Monroe, Macy Hall, Marie Hampton, Gussie Shedricks; uncle, Charles Jones; cousins, Patricia, Larry, Eddie, Emma Jean, Janice, ‘Lil Minnie, Ernest, Terri, Glen, Keshia and Gala; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Leanna; many other relatives and friends; special friends, Wendy Gwizdala, Sara Jenkins, Rodhelia Turner, Steve Booker, Verlon Hammond and Antwanesha Randle.

Wavonne was preceded in death by her mother, Leola K. Johnson; one brother, Freddie Lee Blackmon; uncles, Samuel and Eddie Shedrick, Clarence Williams, Tommy and Alonzo Blackmon and grandson, Marquavius Beamon.
