Wayne C. Humphrey (Lansing)

July 21, 1951 — February 11, 2024

Wayne C. Humphrey was born in Odessa, Texas on July 21, 1951. He went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. Preceded by his parents, Earl and Joyce, and his brother Gene, he is survived by his loving wife Sally of 46 years with their eight children, Jonathan, R. Morgan, Andrew (Elizabeth), Sarah, Emily (Steven), Grace (Gene), Thomas (Kathryn), and Betsy Belle (Jeremy), along with twenty-two grandchildren, sister Marlene (John), and sister-in-law Diana.

A native Texan, he graduated with a degree in accounting from Steven F. Austin University. He worked as a controller for several oil, gas, and manufacturing companies throughout his career. He was a charter member of the Mason Rotary Club. Wayne loved life, and he loved people, but most importantly he loved the Lord. He was a very active member at Faith Bible Church. He enjoyed going to church and family events. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed it even more when watching with loved ones. Over the last several years he really enjoyed going with Sally to the YMCA and visiting with all the new friends that he had made.

Wayne was very proud of his family and took great joy in celebrating their successes. He was a gifted teacher and loved sharing with his grandchildren his knowledge of God, hard work, cooking, and all about heaven on earth–his home state of Texas. He loved studying his Texan genealogy while cooking up a big pot of his famous Texas chili or gumbo. He enjoyed writing poetry and would often share his compositions which were full of good humor and memorable stories.
