Willard Hughes (Lansing)

March 29, 1939 — July 13, 2015

Willard Shotgun Lee Hughes was born March 29, 1939 in Shaw, Mississippi to Robert Hughes and Mary Eliza Taylor. On July 13, 2015 he accepted his place in the opening arms of his Heavenly Father at the age of 76 years.

Willard attended Clarksdale High School in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age. Willard later moved to Lansing, Michigan where he worked at General Motors for several years. He went on to open his own pool hall and then became a chef at Flapjacks Restaurant.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory eight sons and two daughters, Willous (Renee) Miller of Joliet, Illinois, Allen Barnes of Memphis, Tennessee, Charles (Florine) Miller of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Frederick (Madga) Walker of Canton, Michigan, Michael (Darlene) Henderson of Denver, Colorado, Jacqueline Hughes of Lansing, Michigan, Karmen Stricklin Kyles of California, Reginald Monroe Sr. of Memphis, Tennessee, Willard Payne and Semaj Adams of Lansing, Michigan; two sisters, Johnnie Blount of Lansing, Michigan and Charlie Williams of Toledo, Ohio; one brother, Joe Davis of Clarksdale, Mississippi; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews including a very special niece that he loved dearly, April Franklin of Lansing, MI.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents Robert Hughes and Mary Eliza Taylor, Brother, Johnny C. Johnson.
