Mr. William David Sykes Sr. passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at Covenant Healthcare Rehabilitation Center. Age 74 years. He was born April 14, 1937 in Sunflower, Mississippi to Mint and Inola Sykes.
William resided in Saginaw, Michigan and retired from General Motors after 49 years of service. He was also a member of UAW Local 668.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Hattie M. Sykes, Theresa Sykes both of Sunflower, MS, Daphne Howard of Saginaw, MI; four sons, Roosevelt Sykes, Donnell Sykes, James Sykes all of Sunflower, MS, Earl of Texas; five sisters, Patricia A. Scott, Saginaw, MI. Shirley A. Sykes, Salt Lake City, UT, Dorothy Sykes-Brown, Defiance, OH, Brenda Lee, Tacoma, WA, Cynthia Hall (Bruce), Calumet City, IL; six brothers, Rev. Sylvester (Ollie) Sykes, Louisville, KY, Emerson (Bobbie) Sykes, Freddie (Denise) Sykes, both of Saginaw, MI, James T. (Birdie) Sykes, Willacoochie, GA, Mint Jr. (Susie) Sykes, Clarence (Rose) Sykes both of Chicago, IL; three aunts, O.D. Parker, Frankie B. Williams both of Indianola, MS, Leola Kelly, Chicago, IL; many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
William was preceded in death by his parents, one son, William Sykes Jr. and one daughter, Delores Sykes.
