Willie Brown Jr.

May 28, 1921 — January 2, 2013

Mr. Willie Brown Jr. was born May 28, 1921 in Pope, Mississippi to Lillian Smith and Willie Brown Sr. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison. Age 91 years.
At the age of eleven, Mr. Brown accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Pope, Mississippi. He worshipped at this church until he moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1973. He united in holy matrimony in 1939 to Dorothy Patterson and this union was blessed with five children. In 2002, he married Margaret Malley.
After he relocated to Saginaw, Michigan, Mr. Brown worked construction for many years until he was injured and forced to retire. He will be remembered as a private but kind man who made friends easily. Even at 91 years of age, he had a great memory of people, places and things. He was very humorous and full of antics that made his family and friends laugh when they were in his presence.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret Brown; daughters, Annie B. Ford, Clarksdale, Mississippi, Dorothy J. (John) Batson, Toledo, Ohio, Bobbie Barnes, Jacqueline Barnes, East St. Louis, Illinois; one son, Kenny Brown, East St. Louis, Illinois; one step-daughter, Earlean (Frank) Davis; grandchildren, Willie Mathis, Carolyn Brown, Ruby Lee, Ron Armstrong, Jackie Brown, Dan Ford, John C. (Dana) Batson III, Ivy (Lashon) Sawyer, Cassandra, Vanessa, Keith and Shaba Brown, Sheryl Bradford, Gregory Adams; thirty great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends including a special niece and caregiver, Bobbie Nell (Willie) Haynes, Saginaw, Michigan.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Brown Sr. and Lillian Smith, children, Mildred Lee Armstrong, Charlie Earl Brown, Willie C. Brown, Mary Jean Winter, one sister, Rose Lee Washington.
The family would like to express special thanks to Magnum Health and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care of our loved one during his short period of time spent there and Macedonia Baptist Church family.
