Willie Isaac Powell

Mr. Willie Isaac Powell, age 66, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Tempe, Arizona. He was born November 27, 1950 in Sumpter, South Carolina, to Emma and James Powell, Jr.

Willie was a veteran, having served with the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Powell was a retiree from General Motors after 33 years of service. Education was one of his top priorities, as he continued to take classes until his death. He believed that you never get to old to learn something new. He loved talking to people and he never met a stranger. He was friendly to everyone he met. Mr. Powell was a very loving grandfather. He loved his grandchildren more than life itself.

Mr. Willie Isaac Powell leaves to cherish his sweet memories his devoted wife of 33 years, Minister Barbara J. Powell; three loving daughters, Brandie Alemon of Mesa, Arizona, Ashley Munza of Flint, Michigan, and Rebecca Wilson of Flint, Michigan, whom he raised since she was six months old; son, Willie Justin Isaac Powell, II of Flint, Michigan; his loving mother, Emma Powell; one sister, Marilyn Cunningham, and one brother, Marcola Powell of Lapeer, Michigan; six grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends.

Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his father, Mr. James Powell, Jr., grandparents, grandsons, and several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Sanders, Reverend Gilliard, and the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel of Saginaw, Michigan, and many other family and friends.
