Mr. Willie James Cook passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at his residence. Age 63 years. He was born June 26, 1950 in Matthews, Missouri to Rosie Mae Washington.
Willie was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan for 48 years. He retired from General Motors after 42 years of service. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War with an honorable discharge. Willie married Janis Marie Franklin in 1992 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a big sports fan. Gone but never forgotten, his presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Syrina Johnson; two step children, Sylvlenthia Banks and Stanislaus Johnson; four grandchildren, Pe?le Peterson Jr., D?Quavion Wallace, Shaniqua Brooks and Ny?Kisha Banks; his mother Rosie Mae Washington; four sisters, Bertha Rodgers, Sharon Eason, and Barbara Washington of Nashville, Tennessee and Mary Ann (TL) Thomas of Essexville, Michigan; one brother, David Thompson of Saginaw, Michigan; six nieces, Chanda Thompson, Travanda (Wallace) Ferguson, Shatara (Kenneth) Smithers, Jessica (Koffi) Hovi, Jacqueline Ross and Brianna Davis; two nephews, Joseph Ross Jr., Titus Bowman IV; three aunts Fannie (David) Handley, Ann Harper, Annyce (Dennis) Luckett; five uncles, James (Marcy) Cook, L.C. (Dorothy) Cook, Robert (Georgia) Cook, Melvin Cook, Jim Farr; three sisters-in-law, Anita (Theodore) Johnson, Cynthia (Robert) Bell, Tammy West all of Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers-in-law, Bruce (Bertha) Walker III, Dwayne Walker, Brian Franklin all of Saginaw, Michigan; special cousin, Mary Alice Bishop of Garland, Texas; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Theodore (Teddy) Johnson and Sally Landeryon.
Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Marie Cook; son, Steven Johnson; his grandfather, Harper (Essie) Cook; grandmother, Willie Lee Cook; three grandchildren, Isaiah Harper, Javion and Jovion Peterson, and one aunt, Lorene Farr.
