Willie James Mills, Sr.

September 5, 1944 — January 8, 2016

Mr. Willie James Mills Sr. began his earthly journey in life on September 5, 1944 in Panola, Alabama, the son of Curtis and Lucy Mills. While surrounded by his loving family God whispered to him, Come to me. He gained his eternal wings and entered the kingdom of Heaven on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the age of 71 years.
Willie relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in the 1960s where he gained employment with General Motors Saginaw Malleable Iron Foundry. He was also a member of UAW Local 455. Willie retired after 38 years of faithful service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Willie loved spending quality time with his family. He was a fix it man who enjoyed fixing any and everything and also helping others learn how to fix things. Willie was a father figure to whoever needed a male role model. He was a real stand up type of guy and his wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy his devoted wife of 48 years, Almeta Mills; two daughters, Renae (John) Williams of Saginaw, Michigan and Nicole (Andre) Poole of Rochester Hills, Michigan; two sons, Willie Mills Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan and Dionne (Kecoria) Mills of Elkhart, Indiana; grandchildren, Dionne Mills II, Quindreveon Poole, Demetrius Mills, Tresean Mills, Drelyn Mills, Dionna Mills, Rhianna Mills and JaKiel Stone; great-grandchildren, DaMaya and KaNija Mills; four sisters, Onner Lee (Robert) Little, Marion Mills, Helen Thomas and Allie B. Brown; ten brothers, Curtis (Katie) Mills, Samuel (Jeraldine) Mills, Cleveland (Brenda) Mills, Bobby (Joan) Mills, Clinton (Letha) Mills, Timothy (Linda) Mills, Ned Mills, Bradley Mills, James (Barbara) Mills and William Mills; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Amariss Mills; many other relatives and friends including his special friends, Bill Jones and Ivory Stanton.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lucy Mills, one brother, Frank Mills Sr., grandson, DaMichael Mills, mother and father-in-law, Albert and Olarvean Caldwell.
