Mrs. Wisdom D. Murphy, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt transitioned Sunday, July 12, 2015 due to complications associated with Alzheimers Disease. Age 90 years. Born October 26, 1924 in Orange, Texas to William C. and Jane Denison.
Wisdom relocated with her family to Lake Charles, Louisiana where she grew up as a teenager. She had two siblings; an elder brother, Russion Denison (deceased) of Saginaw, Michigan and a younger sister, Ms. Joy Williams (surviving) whom resides in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
She married Mr. Ezelle Murphy in 1944. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1992. Wisdom and her husband moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1946 where they became lifetime residents. Both were Jehovahs Witnesses. Her educational attainment level was through high school. She often spoke fondly of her educational experiences. Her workplace was her home where she and her husband raised a family of six. Wisdom maintained a home of cleanliness and was an excellent cook/baker. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Wisdom was an avid reader, a lover of nature and immensely enjoyed listening to music. Both she and her husband loved to take the family boat out for fishing excursions. There are fond memories of weekend travels to various locations in Michigan and family gatherings. Those who knew her well knew her as a no nonsense woman.
Wisdom was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Lynn Murphy Ducre. Surviving her are daughter and sons, Iris (Arthur) Gissendanner of Saginaw, Michigan, Jeri (Ruby) Murphy of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Gloria Murphy of Suitland, Maryland, Larry (Tyan) Murphy of Saginaw, Michigan and Lois Murphy (Arthur L. Hughes Jr.) of Saginaw, Michigan. In addition to her children, continuing the family legacy are many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren. There is also a niece, two nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Many relatives reside in various locations throughout Michigan and the United States.
Special acknowledgements and appreciation goes out to grand-daughter, Ms. Kim Murphy who honoring the familys wishes to keep Mrs. Murphy in her home until her death, served as her primary caregiver.
Cremation has taken place at Superior Cremation Services in Merrill, Michigan.
