Life Story of Mrs. Wonnie Lee Goss

There is a Time to Be Born

Mrs. Wonnie Lee Goss was born in Quitman, Georgia (Brooks County) on November 21, 1947 to Reverend Grady Wilson and the late Ethel Mae Wilson.

There is a Time to Die

Mrs. Wonnie Goss moved from her old home to her new home to be with her Savior on Friday, October 25, 2019 at around 3:00 AM at her home. Age 71 years.

There is a Time to Plant

After graduating from Lakeland High School, Wonnie moved from Lakeland, Georgia to Lansing, Michigan in 1966; where she met the love of her life, the late Willie James Goss. They later wed in 1968 and to this union three handsome baby boys were born. She welcomed her daughter-in-law, Loraine Pless in 2001, and in 2010 she officially called her “the daughter she never had”. She was a great mother to her children and a loving and caring wife to her late husband of over 35 years. After the untimely death of her late husband, Willie James Goss, in 2005, she stayed strong maintaining a good attitude.

She took pride in everything she did. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, shopping, ceramics, gardening, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She loved to try different cuisines. She was charitable to many organizations, generous to anyone who needed her help, and attended Mount Hope Church. Mrs. Goss was funny, had a beautiful smile, was strong and independent, and spoke her mind to get her point across. She was a great conversationalist – she never met a stranger.

She loved to travel and one of her favorite excursions was a trip to Jamaica where she had the time of her life (and no, she was a lady, unlike Stella, she did not get her groove back!).

There is a Time to Mourn

In July 2019, Mrs. Wonnie was struck with tragic news, the loss of her oldest son, Kelvin James Goss. She loved all of her sons; however, she and Kelvin had a special bond. He took care of her, making sure all of her needs were met. In early October of this year she started exercising regularly again. She was making plans to go south, as she called Valdosta and Atlanta, Georgia, for Christmas where she would spend time with her father, Reverend Grady Wilson, her baby son, Christopher Goss, daughter, Chereka Flemister, grandson C.J. Goss, daughter, Loraine, friend, Ann Green, and all the rest of her family. God had a better plan for her and wanted her to eat of his garden and drink only from his well. He called her home to receive her heavenly wings.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Corey Goss, Christopher Goss, Chereka Flemister, Loraine Pless; grandchildren, Corey Goss, Jr., Christopher Goss, Jr. and Tony Gill; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Gill, Karinna Goss, and Carlos Gill; father, Reverend Grady Wilson; Stepmother, Mrs. Flossie Brody; sister, Gracie Belle Goss; brothers, Robert (Barbara) Wilson, Richard Wilson; nieces, Letonya (Larry) Bailey, Eurica (Denise) Austin, Yolanda (James) Eaton and Shamika Goss; nephews, Robert (Deanna) Wilson Jr., Shante Wilson, Demetris (Jenna) Wilson, Demond (Tammy) Wilson, Eric Goss, Johnny Goss, Jr., and Earl Goss, Jr.; aunts, Fannie Wilson, Rhodie Ponder and Annie Ponder; step-sister, Lady Evangelist Ola (Chief Apostle W. Lee) Brown; Sister-in-law, Barbara Goss; brother-in-law, Johnny Goss; many other great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Cindy Burtley, Stacey Stewart, Deon Johnson, Fannie Jones, Ann Green, Cathy Morgan, friends from the gym including Peggy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Goss; son, James Kelvin Goss; mother, Ethel Mae Wilson; parents-in-law, John and Gladys Goss; brothers-in-law, Alphonso Goss and Earl Goss. Her uncle, Jake Ponder passed days after Wonnie.
