Yvonne D. Bethany "Dede" (Lansing)

Ms. Yvonne Denice Bethany affectionately known as “DeDe” departed this life on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 62 years old. She was born Thursday, February 16, 1961, at E.W. Sparrow Hospital to her loving parents, Cecil and Donella Bethany of Lansing, Michigan.

DeDe’s entire family attended Union Missionary Baptist Church, in Lansing, where she joined at an early age. A resident of Lansing all her life, she was educated in the Lansing Public Schools and attended Main Street Elementary School, Dwight Rich Middle School, and J.W. Sexton High School. Yvonne received certification from U.S. Truck Driver Training School (Ypsilanti, Michigan), had various jobs throughout her life, and was temporarily employed with General Motors. Her personality and voice were as loud as the colors she loved to wear. She was loved by many, and she loved and lived intensely.

She leaves to cherish her memory her adopted son Antonio Bethany; father, Cecil Bethany; siblings, Calvin Otis Bethany, Sonya Ren’a “Renee” (Pastor Jeffery A. Lang, Sr.) Bethany-Lang, Christopher Ray (Teri) Bethany, Dawn Lucille Bethany, Sondra Kay Bethany; many adopted grandchildren; nieces, Britney Gilmartin, Joy Denise Lang, Ciera Rae Bethany; nephews, Jeffery A Lang II and Cecil Jerome Williams-Bethany; many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Donella Bethany; grandparents, Reverend Frank Key, and Paul and Ardell Pulley.

The family would like to express special thanks to family, friends, neighbors, the staff of Windemere Park Charter Academy, Union Missionary Baptist Church, Friendship House of Prayer Baptist Church family, coworkers, and those who blessed us when they stopped by and offered words of encouragement, prayers, and food.
